Because there's more to an architecture than the CPU used. It's like
asking why you can't run MorphOS on an iMac. The AmineONE will be pure
PPC architecture, the PowerUp boards are 68K accelerators with a kludged
on PPC co-processor. It's a clever kludge, and was a good temporary
solution at the time, but it is still a kludge and was never intended to
be a permanent design, merely a transition to pure PPC Amigas.

It's been said many times that it may be possible to make a Zico
compatibly layer to enable AOS4.x to run on PowerUp boards. Writing this
would slow down development of the OS, and running it would slow down
execution of the OS. Amiga will give assistance to anyone who wants to
write this, but won't do it themselves.

The PowerUp board is more like a Mk2 Escort. there's only so far you can
push ancient hardware, and a four year old design is ancient in computer
terms. It's not only old, it's proprietary and expensive. You've had
some years use out of it, but soon it will be time to move on, to trade
in your Escort for a newer model.
